Thanks for the question.
The short answer is "No".
To be an SMSF auditor you need to meet the requirements of section 128B of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993.
Also relevant is SIS Regulation 9A.
Broadly speaking, an SMSF auditor needs to meet the 'fit and proper person test', they need to hold an appropriate tertiary qualification, they need to hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance, they need to have passed the competency exam (when not covered by the transitional provisions) and need at least 300 hours of SMSF audit experience prior to seeking registration as an SMSF auditor.
