HI,
I have been asked to take over some SMSF audits from an accounting firm that previously did them in house. The accounant wants me to invoice them for the work and they will then include my charge on their invoice to the client. Is this allowed ? Obviously if it is I will detail this arrangement in my engagement letter to the fund.
I believe for independence sake you should always invoice the trustees directly NEVER through the accountant. You should be sending your engagement letter and trustee representation letter direct to the trustees to sign - so why not the invoice. Also ensures the fee is not inflated by the accountant.
